Fleet Transport
WR Carter & Sons (Transport) Ltd operate with a diverse modern fleet which allows great flexibility to accommodate our customers specific requirements.
We offer Flatbed Trailers, Step Frame Trailers and Curtain Siders. Our fleet of 44-ton trucks enables us to offer haulage solutions throughout the UK on a daily basis. We can carry more volume on our specially designed step frame trailers reducing the cost of moving large volumes by lessening the overall number of transported loads. All trailers have 26 stacks of pallet capacity.
Flatbed trailers are versatile with loading possible from each side and above. Machinery / Plant / Portacabins / Timber and concrete are some of the freight we carry.

Curtain Siders
A curtain sider is basically a flatbed with an upper structure mounted to the flatbed as a tarping system. Tautliner trailers are of the flatbed variety and are covered with a tarp system or curtain. This can easily be moved out of the way, thereby providing ready access to the trailer for loading cargo making the contents of the trailer both safer and invisible in transit.
A step frame trailer is a type of trailer that differs from the normal type of trailer used with articulated lorries. The frame steps down from the 'neck' section with the kingpin mounted onto a lower deck height. The lower loading height is often used for machinery transport. Other applications are to allow taller loads to be moved or when used as a 'box van' chassis to carry far more bulky goods. The smaller wheel size can result in a lower load capacity but to some extent, improvements in tyre technology has countered this problem.
